Rules for Sinfar Builders

Builder Avatar

To help keep the distinction between you as the player and you as the builder we ask that if you are testing areas within the module live that you create separate avatars for this task and that they should be named ‘Test - INSERT NAME HERE’. This way you can level/de-level and tweak said avatar without fear of reprisals from anyone, it also means that you can resurrect, self heal as you need to. Avatar are able to use extra chat command function as example.

DO NOT USE YOUR ROLEPLAY AVATARS FOR BUILD TESTING

Builder Wands

Your Builders wand is there for use with your Builder Avatar and all the functions available to it. It is NOT for use with your roleplay avatar unless there is a direct reason that you need to do so with regard to one of your areas. For example reloading them to fix a bug. Using your wand to help other players an those not involved in testing is strictly forbidden. This includes creating items, forge components, treasure, gold, giving or taking experience.

Creating Custom Items

Please refer to the various help topics and links for specifics of creating items. However there is one golden rule for creating items on Sinfar:

NO ITEMS THAT ARE EQUAL TO OR MORE POWERFUL THAN WHAT THE FORGE PRODUCES ARE ALLOWED

You MAY add the following properties: Visual Effects, Light, Negative Properties, Weight Increases and altering standard bonuses to work with specific race or alignments. Exceptions: You may SCRIPT items to work as you want with the unique power property but the items must be restricted and useable ONLY in your own areas to avoid exploits.

Creating Custom Merchants

Please do not add high tier items into shops, these would be any about +3 Enahancement and +3 Armour. Bags of holding are not be added to merchant shops or any healing kits above +10. No items with bound spells above a caster level of 3. Uses should be limited to one per day or should have charges assigned to them.

Creating Custom Content

As a server, Sinfar is reaching a maturation stage where we have lots of content that is already available. Particularly things like the loot tables and forge components along with huge banks of scripts and housing thats available. When you are looking to create new things then just ask yourself first is it really needed. If in doubt then check with one of the admins as a server Sinfar is to the stage where it wants to be refined and tidied around the edges so please bare this in mind.

ASK YOURSELF WHAT ARE YOU CREATING AND IS IT ALREADY IN THE SERVER

Right of Ownership

As a builder you have right of ownership over your own works, you have the right to remove your own work at any time, with the exception of the below. Content that you create for Sinfar and upload remains your own intellectual property and is yours to edit or remove with the exception of the following caveats.

Player Housing

If you include player housing areas (ie areas that contain houses for players to buy or lease) then the server reserves the right to recover those areas and use them until such a time as a suitable replacement can be found to incorporate those houses into.

Integrity of the Server

The server reserves the right to recover an area and or ERF if it is deemed that the integrity and functionality of the server is harmed by its removal. Should this be the case then the server will endeavour to incorporate these needed elements into another resource as soon as possible.
